Mario Mola tenth in the European Championship Sub-23 de Águilas

The Men's Under-23 European Championship took place in the Murcian town of Águilas this past Saturday, September 1. The event was attended by several Olympic triathletes, such as the Majorcan Mario Mola, Richard Varga or Joao Silva.

As in the Olympics. from London, Richard Varga was the first to complete the 1.5km swim, heading towards T1 along with the Russians. Fernando Alarza and the Galician Uxío Abuín were the first Spaniards to complete the 1 km of swim.

Already in the cycling sector consisting of 40.5 km, they have been very relegated from the front posts. Despite this, together with Mario Mola, they have placed themselves in the pursuer group and have tried to get close to the top positions. The trio of Spaniards has struggled with care to link with the leading peloton both in the cycling sector and during the four laps of the race on foot, managing to reduce differences.

Finally, Mario Mola crossed the finish line in 10º place, next to Alarza in 12ª position. Uxío Abuín continues to leave good feelings and concluded in 12ª position. Vicente Hernández finished 17º and Ricardo Hernández arrived in 18º place.

While the French Le Corre took the gold after a hard final sprint with the Slovak Richard Varga in the final meters of the competition. While the British Thomas Bishop came in third position.
