More than 2.000 triathletes at the IRONMAN 70.3 Marbella

This next Sunday October 27, Marbella  la sixth edition of the HOMBRE DE HIERRO 70.3 Marbella.

More than 2.000 triathletes will take part in this event, which, in just six editions, has managed to establish itself as an ideal medium-distance event to close the season on the peninsula.

Since its first edition in 2018The race has been very well received, and this year will be no exception, repeating the number of participants from its debut.

The Costa del Sol, renowned for its mountainous landscapes and idyllic Mediterranean beaches, will be the perfect setting for this event organised by The IRONMAN Group.

Athletes must complete the three classic disciplines: 1,9 kilometers of swimming, 90 kilometers of cycling by the mountains surrounding Marbella, and a 21,1 kilometer half marathon along the seafront, culminating in the famous finish line in Puerto Banus.

Record female participation and international presence

This year's edition stands out especially for the increase in female participation, with a 18% of female athletes, exceeding the usual 13-14% recorded in previous editions.

In addition, the event will have a marked international character: the 73% of those registered are foreigners, with triathletes from 72 different nationalities.

The countries with the highest representation are: United Kingdom (24%), followed by France (9,1%), Belgium (6,5%), Ireland (4,5%) and The Netherlands (4,2%).

A beginners' test and a community atmosphere

El IRONMAN 70.3 Marbella continues to attract those seeking their first experience in middle distance running.

This year, 44% of participants will be debutants in the IRONMAN 70.3 distance, and a notable 85% will compete for the first time in Marbella, which reaffirms the event's ability to motivate new triathletes.

In addition, there will be a participation of 225 triathlon clubs from different countries.

Marbella, host of the 2025 World Championship

The 2025 edition will have an even more special character, since Marbella has been selected to host the VinFast IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship, becoming the first Spanish city to do so.

In this way, it will follow in the footsteps of major venues such as Lahti (Finland), Zell am See-Kaprun (Austria) and Nice (France).

The format will be two days of competition, with the professional and age group women making their debut Saturday November 8, while men will do the same Sunday November 9Massive participation is expected, with More than 6.000 athletes on the starting line for both days.
