More than 2.000 triathletes will be at the MTRI Valencia and the World Cup
The city of Valencia is preparing for an exciting triathlon weekend, with the celebration of the 4th Triathlon World Cup and the event Mediterranean Triathlon (MTRI).
More than 2.000 triathletes will take to the streets of the city, putting Valencia back on the world map of this sport.
The competition will take place in the incomparable setting of The Marina of Valencia, once again consolidating its position as a benchmark venue for international sporting events.
The event not only features the Triathlon World Cup, but also includes the CSpanish Paralympic Triathlon Championship and Spanish Inclusive Triathlon Championship, demonstrating commitment to inclusion and diversity in sport.
Institutional support and record participation
The official presentation of the competition took place yesterday morning in the La Base building, in The Marina of Valencia, with the presence of important institutions such as the Valencian generalitat, Valencia City Council, Trinidad Alfonso Foundation and the organizers: World triathlon, Spanish Federation of Triathlon and Federation of Triatló of the Valencian Community.
International competition and popular events
The Triathlon World Cup will bring together some of the best triathletes on the international scene.
In the men's category, names such as Antonio Serrat, Kevin Tarek Viñuela, Genis Grau y David cantero, who will seek to revalidate his victory from last year.
In the women's category, we will see elite athletes such as Anna Godoy, Noelia Juan y Alejandra Segui, the latter competing in its first World Cup.
As to Mediterranean TriathlonThe event will have distances for all ages and levels: supersprint, sprint and Olympic, both individually and in pairs.
This year, More than 30% of the participants are from outside the Valencian Community, and 32% of those registered are women, reflecting a significant growth in female participation.
In addition, Triathletes from 20 nationalities different will join the event, making Valencia a meeting point for global sport.
News and tribute to paratriathlon
This year, the event has several new features, highlighted by Jorge Garcia, Competition Director of the Spanish Triathlon Federation.
The format has been adapted to make the competition even more exciting, with Olympic triathletes and a special tribute to the Paralympic movement with the celebration of the Spanish Paratriathlon and Inclusive Triathlon Championship.
Noelia Juan, fourth in the 2023 edition, expressed her desire to reach the podium this year, taking advantage of competing “at home”, surrounded by her people and her club.
For its part, David cantero, the undisputed leader of last year, expressed his “blessed responsibility” to repeat the feat and highlighted the hardness of competing against rivals who arrive with Olympic diplomas from Paris 2024.
