More than 1.200 triathletes will participate in the Challenge Peguera Mallorca on October 15

The Majorcan town of Peguera is preparing to host about 1200 athletes of 25 nationalities, which during the days of competition, from Thursday 13 to Sunday 16 October, will participate in the different races that make up the event.

It should be noted that in addition to the main event, the triathlon that will take place on Saturday, the program of events includes cultural, gastronomic and sports activities.

Participation may still be greater, since the closing of registrations if there are bibs left will be held on October 9.

Among his rivals in the test is the Dutchman Niek Heldoorn, recently European Long Distance runner-up in Challenge Almere-Amsterdam and currently second in the CFWB22 ranking.

The Challenge Peguera Mallorca has given a turn of the screw to its circuits to surprise and please its participants, and continue to obtain international recognition.

In 2019 he won the best race award from the competing athletes themselves in the different Challenge Family triathlons, and in the 2021 edition he won the award for the most hospitable competition.

In this edition and after consulting multiple participating athletes, the organization has decided to carry out a Substantial change in the first section of the route, the swimming part.

Instead of a 1,9 km loop route out to sea from Torà beach, a double back of 950 in the vicinity of the coast.

Thereby the time participants spend in open water is reduced, management is facilitated by concentrating the action in a smaller space and it improves the closeness with the attending public, who will be able to watch the race and cheer on their athletes for longer.

The other two stages maintain their route and they show, together with the swimming test, the essence of the island of Mallorca throughout its route.

In this sense, the bike section consists of a 45-kilometre double loop that crosses towns and areas of the Calvià coastline, interspersing fast sections with other more technical ones.

Then the foot race begins along the boulevard and the seafront of Peguera, where residents and visitors gather in its lively final stretch.

Another novelty this year is the inclusion of the Challenge Peguera Mallorca in the Spanish Cup of Medium and Long Distance Triathlon.

The competition consists of six tests that are held from May to October and this year it runs through Girona, Pamplona, ​​Logroño, Seville, Mallorca and, finally, in Ibiza.

The organization plans to return to normal in this 2022 edition, after the suspension of the race in 2020 and the restrictions that marked the 2021 test.

In fact, participation is expected to exceed 1.300 people in the different modalities, from the professional competition to the Children's Challenge or the Women's Challenge.
