Olympic tennis champion Monica Puig finishes at the IRONMAN World Championships in Nice

Former Olympic tennis champion, Monica Puig, has written a new chapter in his sporting career by successfully completing his first participation in the World Championship HOMBRE DE HIERRO held in the emblematic city of Nice.

The 30-year-old, who had to end her tennis career in 2022 due to injury, began her journey towards the IRONMAN through the marathon, a challenge that inspired her to explore the world of triathlon.

Accompanied by her husband, Nathan Rakitt, and a rekindled passion for the sport, Puig threw himself into the test that all triathletes dream of completing: the IRONMAN.

The former tennis player completed the swim in 1:31:48, followed by the 180km cycling segment in a time of 7:57:30. The marathon, the final endurance test, put her mental and physical strength to the test, covering the 42,2km in a time of 4:09:14. Finally, Monica finished the test with a total time of 13: 57: 25.

After the event, Monica Puig She shared her reflections on her Instagram account, where she acknowledged the incredibly diverse emotions she experienced throughout the day.

He highlighted the importance of his team, thanking Nathan Rakitt, his mother, Astrid Puig, and to their coaches for their unconditional support.

Monica She highlighted that completing the IRONMAN was a celebration of the strength and tenacity of more than 1.400 women who faced the same challenge.

The Puerto Rican athlete mentioned feeling “Very lucky to be part of this world and to share the journey with such incredible humans.".
