MTRI Alicante: the start of the Mediterranean Triathlon 2025

Following the recent celebration of Valencia Duathlon, The Circuit Mediterranean Triathlon (promoted by the Triathlon Federation of the Valencian Community) is preparing for its first triathlon event in 2025.
Alicante will be the starting point, hosting the event on And May 17 18 on the emblematic Postiguet beach.
Dates and main stage
The weekend of May 17 and 18 will bring together popular and expert triathletes from all over Spain, with the possibility of international athletes visiting.
With a Limitation of 1.500 placesA competitive and energetic atmosphere is expected on the Alicante coast.
Available modalities and distances
In line with the philosophy of the Mediterranean Triathlon, various options are offered so that anyone, regardless of their level, can participate in the sporting festival. The distances available are:
- Olympic: 1,5 km swimming / 40 km cycling / 10 km running
- Sprint: 0,75 km / 20 km / 5 km
- Supersprint: 0,35 km / 10 km / 2,5 km
All these distances also have a couples format, where two participants compete with the same bib number and must swim, pedal and run together to the finish line.
This modality encourages the participation of those who wish to share the experience with a friend or colleague.
Furthermore, the use of bike of Mountain is allowed in Sprint and Supersprint. It can be done Drafting (go on wheel), but the use of couplings or time trial bicycles is prohibited.
Couples competition
The “couples format” has become one of the hallmarks of this circuit. Two triathletes (female, male or mixed) can register together, sharing a number and partner name.
The goal is to enjoy all three segments together, starting at the same time and crossing the finish line simultaneously. An excellent alternative for those who need company or are looking for a different challenge.
Registration and MTRI Pack
The categories contemplated range from Cadet (in Supersprint) until Veterans IV, in addition to the modality Paratriathlon, suitable for all categories (except PTW1 and PTW2).
Registration for MTRI Alicante will open in March 2025, when registration will also be activated for the MTRI Pack, a special pass that groups Alicante, Castellón and Valencia.
Those who purchase this Pack will enjoy a reduced price and will earn points in a parallel classification of the circuit.
Those who decide to take on the three events of the Mediterranean Triathlon (Alicante, Castellón and Valencia) will have extra motivation: there will be a ranking dedicated to those who complete all three races.
