MTRI Valencia closes a weekend of popular success with the Olympic event

Paco Romero and Luca Tóth conquer the Olympic distance

The popular Mediterranean Triathlon Valencia 2024 circuit concluded with an exciting day in La Marina de Valencia, where more than 600 triathletes took on the Olympic distance.

With a 1.500-metre swim, 40 km bike ride and 10 km run, the event tested the endurance of the participants on a sunny day with ideal weather conditions for the competition.

Men's competition: Paco Romero takes the victory

The men's race was particularly intense from the start. The triathlete Joan Rubert, from the La 208 Triatlón Elche club, took the lead from the swimming segment, completing the first 1.500 meters as the undisputed leader.

Rubert maintained his lead for much of the cycling segment, but was caught on the final lap by a chasing group that included Sergio Marco, paco romero y Marcos Pérez.

The outcome was decided in the running segment, where paco romero, from the Forjadores Ciudad Real Triathlon, showed his experience on the circuit.

Romero managed to overtake Alfonso Sanchez on the third lap, securing victory with a time of 1 hour, 54 minutes and 53 seconds.

Alfonso Sanchez, from Tuvalum Poblats Marítims, finished 14 seconds later, followed by Joan Rubert, who completed the podium with a difference of 24 seconds over the winner.

Women's competition: Luca Tóth dominates from start to finish

In the female category, the CEA triathlete Bétera, Luca Toth, showed clear superiority from the first minute.

She led the race alone, leaving little room for her competitors and completing the Olympic distance in a time of 2 hours, 12 minutes and 48 seconds. Yolanda Mir, from SD Correcaminos, secured second place, while Zahira Navarro, from Resistentia T3, completed the podium.

42K Grand Prix: Recognition for the most participating clubs

The day also saw the presentation of the 42K Grand Prix, a recognition to the clubs with the highest number of participants in the 2024 Mediterranean Triathlon circuit.

El CEA Bétera took the first prize, followed by Gandia Triathlon Club and SD Roadrunner in second and third position, respectively.

These clubs received prizes worth €1.000, €600 and €300 in sports equipment, in collaboration with the Valencian brand 42K, a specialist in sportswear.

The 2024 Mediterranean Triathlon circuit comes to an end

With the completion of the MTRI Valencia, the eighth edition of the Mediterranean Triathlon 2024 circuit comes to a close, which has seen the participation of more than 4.500 triathletes throughout the four events of the circuit: Valencia, Alicante, Castellón and the initial event, the Valencia Duathlon by MTRI.

The 2024 edition has surpassed the figures of the previous year, consolidating the event as one of the most important in Spanish triathlon.

The 2025 calendar is already underway, and the second edition of the Valencia Duathlon by MTRI will be held on February 22, touring the center of the city of Valencia.
