Diego Armando Maradona dies of cardiac arrest

He was treated urgently at home

One of the most recognized athletes in history, Diego Armando Maradona has died at 60 years of age from a cardio-respiratory arrest according to the newspaper Clarin.

The legendary Argentine player was recovering at home from an operation for a clot in the head that he suffered recently.

The world champion with the Argentine National Team died this morning at the house in the San Andrés neighborhood, in the town of Tigre, where he had lived for a few days after having surgery.

Several ambulances traveled to his home, although they could do nothing to save his life.

On October 30, he had turned 60.
