Natalia Hidalgo and Sergio Baxter win the Almazán Triathlon

It was the first qualifying for the Spanish Olympic distance championship

Natalia Hidalgo, from the Cidade de Lugo Fluvial, and Sergio Baxter, from the Murcia Unidata Triathlon, achieved victory in the Almazán Triathlon, the first qualifier for the Spanish Olympic Distance Triathlon Championship to be held next September in Banyoles.

Two exciting races, highly contested and with alternatives to also define a sub23 place for the Edmonton World Championship.

Katherinne Anne Mills of the Credus dominated the swimming segment in the women's event, but with a group of about ten triathletes with big names close by and ready to hunt down the XNUMX-kilometer cycle.

In the race, the positions would be defined over the four laps of the track in the natural environment of the Arboleda Park, finally leaving Natalia Hidalgo to contest the victory, who prevailed in the last lap against Marta Pintanel, from Diablillos de Rivas , with Yaiza Saiz, from the University of Alicante, in third position.

Similar situation but with even more equality in a men's qualifier full of big names ready to fight. Ander Noaín, from Saltoki Trikideak, led at the end of the swimming segment with a selected chasing group that would connect in the cycling segment forming a platoon of a dozen triathletes until T2.
