Noelia Juan fourth in the European Supersprint of Balikesir

The Spanish triathlete Noelia Juan was about to get on the podium in the European Supersprint Championship held yesterday in Balikesir, Türkiye.

The CEA Bétera athlete finished in a great fourth position, just one second away from the medals. The gold went to the French Sandra Dodet followed by the German Marlene Gomez-Göggel and the Slovak Zuzana Michalickova.

The women's race remained close until the run, where a compact group, including Juan, María Teresa Jiménez-Orta and Ana Carballo, reached the final transition.

In an exciting finale, the fastest triathletes managed to open small gaps, leaving Juan one step away from the podium. Jiménez-Orta finished in 21st position and Carballo in 24th.

In the men's category, the Italian Nicola Azzano won, completing the double for Italy along with Euan De Nigro. The swiss Maxime Flurie took the bronze.

Spaniard Genis Grau, who fought from behind throughout the race, finished in twenty-second position.
