News 2015: IRONMAN eliminates the awards for professionals in 20 tests.

9 IRONMAN races and another 11 70.3 will no longer have financial prizes for professionals in 2015.

 

 

This money will be used in the most important tests, in addition the WTC has officially announced the creation of a specific output for women in age groups to be released this year in Kona

 

Andrew Messick CEO of the brand has announced major changes to this year's schedule in Kona and explained the redistribution of prizes for professionals for the 2015 season. According to quote the competitor newspaper Messick commented: "The growth of our business in the last 9 months has caused that we have to redraw some things". More than 200.000 triathletes have participated in the 110 competitions IRONMAN or IRONMAN 70.3 "

 

Messick has also announced the separation in departures and age groups to avoid agglomerations in the race. The pro male race will start at the 6: 25, while the female race at the 6: 30. the age groups will start at the 6: 50 and in the female category at the 7: 00

 

The other important announcement was the change in the prize structure for the 1.100 professionals who will participate in 2015. Every year new races are added to the brand and from the WTC they have realized that they are giving prizes in tests where the athletes do not want the classification for Kona, for that reason in 2015 there will be 9 races in North America that they will not have prizes nor will they be awarded points for the classification of the World Championship

 

It will be the races in Boulder, Louisville, Wisconsin, Maryland, Lake Tahoe, Florida, Muskoka, Los Cabos and Lake Placid.

 

But this not all this, since also in 11 70.3 races they will not award prizes or points. It will be the Steelhead, Lake Stevens, Muskoka, Lake Tahoe, Augusta, Haines City, Honu, Boise, Victoria and Syracuse events.
 

All prizes for these tests would be used to increase prizes for professional triathletes.

 

Starting next year Continental Championships will have a prize pool of 150.000 $ to be distributed among the top 10, while in the 70.3 championships the prizes will range between $ 75.000 and $ 100.000. In addition, the winners of the championships will obtain the direct classification for Ironman World Championship or Ironman 70.3
