These are the new rules approved by World Triathlon for 2022

The Executive Council of the World Triathlon has met for two to lay the foundation for the 2022 season, from the calendar to the strategic plan, reviewing the situation of sponsorships, television, finances, etc.

Changes in the regulations for 2022

Among the new standards approved, there will be a increased penalties for misbehavior in swimming

The limits for the use of wetsuits that are increased for athletes 60 years and older.

Clips will be banned in races from 2023

In addition, they will also be prohibited some cycling positions effective immediately.

One of the most shocking changes to the rules affects Mixed Relay, which will now be done in the order man - woman - man - woman, until the end of 2024 so that they are applicable at all levels of the tests.

Olympic cycle

The Executive Committee also approved proposing to the International Olympic Committee that the Olympic qualification for Paris 2024 start on May 27, 2022 and end on May 27, 2024.

The number of events that count towards Olympic qualification in each period, as well as the full qualification criteria, will be approved and announced later, after approval by the International Olympic Committee.
