Ocean Lava Lanzarote Triathlon will host this year the Championship of Spain and the Canary Islands of Long Distance

Twenty nationalities will be represented in the fifth edition of the Ocean Lava Lanzarote Triathlon, making it one of the sporting events with the greatest international impact of those held on the island of Lanzarote.

The best regional, national and international triathletes, will meet next November 1 in Arrecife to participate in a triathlon that has been consolidated with the passage of the editions.

On the morning of Tuesday, the official presentation of the Ocean Lava Lanzarote Triathlon was held, an event that took place at the Gran Hotel Reef. Kenneth Gasque, director of the Ocean Lava Lanzarote Triathlon and the Ironman of Lanzarote, was accompanied by Pedro San Ginés, president of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Rafael Juan González, Councilor for Tourism of the Arrecife City Council, Paca Toledo, Councilor for Sports of Arrecife and Juan Armas in representation of Promotur Turismo de Canarias.

The epicenter of the Ocean Lava Lanzarote Triathlon moves in this fifth edition to the capital of the island, explaining José Juan González that "Arrecife is worthy of a test of these characteristics" and remembering that, at least, during the next four years the triathlon will be held in Arrecife, bet that they realize by the great international projection that has the test. For his part, Paca Toledo said that the Ocean Lava brings "a lot of value to the municipality and the athletes of Arrecife" and added that "Arrecife opens to the world with the celebration of the Ocean Lava Lanzarote Triathlon".

The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Pedro San Ginés, argued that the idea "is to internationalize as much as possible this type of sporting events", and predicted that the triathlon of the next November 1 will "see a success for Lanzarote in general and for Arrecife in particular. " Juan Armas, on behalf of Promotur Turismo Lanzarote, recalled that the Government of the Canary Islands promotes those sporting events that "have a great international projection, placing the Canaries on a global level".

The Ocean Lava Lanzarote Triathlon will have the participation of close to 400 triathletes and who will represent a score of different nationalities.

Kenneth Gasque, organizer of the event, recalled that in this fifth edition the test will be valid for the Championship of the Canary Islands and Spain of Long Distance, which will allow famous triathletes to meet in Lanzarote next November 1.

Around the Ocean Lava Lanzarote Triathlon different cultural and sports activities will be carried out in parallel, and they will begin to develop in Arrecife starting on Thursday 30 in October, with film cycles related to sports, music or gastronomy, among other events.

 The big day will be Saturday 1 in November with the celebration of the Ocean Lava Lanzarote Triathlon and on Sunday 2 in November the Ocean Lava Kids will be developed and will proceed to the delivery of prizes to the different age groups
