Paco de la Paz and Judith Corachán Champions of Spain LD Triathlon 2024
The Epic Triathlon 2024 in Oropesa del Mar was held today with perfect weather for the competition.
The test, which was held over distances of 3,8 km of swimming, 180 km of cycling and 42 km of running, brought together some of the best triathletes in the country.
From the start, Guillem Rojas set a pace in the swimming segment, coming out of the water with a considerable advantage over his closest competitors such as Aritz Rodríguez, Ramón Ejeda , Ander Irigoyen and Roger Manyá.
During the cycling segment, Paco de la Paz began his comeback. At the end of the first 60km lap, Rojas was still in the lead, but with a decreasing gap to the race leader.
At the end of the second lap, De la Paz was already leading with an advantage of 11 seconds over Rojas and 6 minutes over Kristian Quintans.
At the start of the running segment, De la Paz was leading the race, maintaining his pace to pass the 21km mark with a 10-minute advantage over Quintans and more than 13 minutes over Manyá.
Finally, Paco de la Paz won the race, followed by Kristian Quintans and Nacho Villarruel on the podium.
In the women's category, the absence of the current Spanish champion, Patricia Bueno , due to health problems, left the way clear for a new Spanish champion to be crowned this year.
Judith Corachán , the big favorite , came out of the water with an advantage of more than 6 minutes over Carolina Fernández , second in this segment.
During the cycling segment, Corachán continued to increase his advantage over his opponents, arriving at T2 with more than 25 minutes of advantage.
In the running leg, Judith Corachán maintained her lead and crossed the finish line, demonstrating once again why she is one of the best triathletes in Spain. Steffie Le Bénézic finished second and Carolina Ortuño third.
