The Paris 2024 Paralympic Games They are here and paratriathlon is presented as one of the most exciting and anticipated disciplines of the event.
In Paris, athletes will demonstrate their skills on a challenging course, combining swimming, cycling and running, all in a sprint distance format.
Below is a full breakdown of what you can expect from this spectacular competition.
Dates and Event Schedule
Last minute; the dates have been changed again to September 2nd due to the water quality
Due to weather conditions it has been decided change all tests to September 1st
The paratriathlon events will take place on 2 of September 2024. This will be the third time that paratriathlon has been held at the Paralympic Games, and it is expected to be the most exciting edition yet.
The competition program is as follows:
September 2nd
- 8:15 AM: PTWC1 Men's Departure (PTWC2 +3mins)
- 8:20 AM: PTWC1 Women's start (PTWC2 +3m38s)
- 9:25 AM: PTS3 Men's Departure
- 9:30 AM: PTS2 Men's Departure
- 9:35 AM: PTS2 Women's Departure
- 12:00 PM: PTVI1 Men's Departure (PTVI 2/3 +2m41s)
- 12:05 PM: PTVI1 Women's start (PTVI 2/3 +3m11)
- 12:20 PM: PTS5 Men's Departure
- 12:25 PM: PTS4 Men's Departure
- 12:35 PM: PTS5 Women's Departure
- 12:40 PM: PTS4 Women's Departure
Event Location
The paratriathlon events will take place on the Pont Alexandre III, which will be used for both the transition and the finish of the races. Water quality regulations have been implemented to ensure optimal conditions during the competitions.
Athletes will have to complete a 750-metre swim in the River Seine, followed by a 20-kilometre bike ride that passes by some of the city's most iconic buildings, including the Grand Palais and the Champs-Élysées.
The last part of the race will consist of a 5-kilometre walk.
