Paris 2024: All Paratriathlon events will be held on a single day

World Triathlon, in collaboration with Paris 2024, has decided that all Paratriathlon events at the Paris Paralympic Games will be held on one day, 1 September. They were initially scheduled for two days, 1 and 2 September.

Why the change?

The uncertainty in the weather forecast for the coming days, which could affect the water conditions of the Seine, has prompted this decision.

With a release of World Triathlon, “we want to offer athletes and coaches the greatest possible security.”

The change affects all eleven medal events, which will be held on the same day. The swimming course remains unchanged and all races on Sunday 1 will be broadcast live, as originally planned.

World Triathlon and Paris 2024 do not rule out the possibility of holding swim familiarisation sessions on 30 and 31 August. Decisions on this will be made, if possible, at 7:00 pm the day before, with subsequent information to teams and stakeholders.

September 2 and 3 remain the contingency days for all medal events.

New schedule for Paratriathlon events in Paris 2024:

  • 8:15 AM: PTWC1 Men's Departure (PTWC2 +3mins)
  • 8:20 AM: PTWC1 Women's start (PTWC2 +3m38s)
  • 9:25 AM: PTS3 Men's Departure
  • 9:30 AM: PTS2 Men's Departure
  • 9:35 AM: PTS2 Women's Departure
  • 12:00 PM: PTVI1 Men's Departure (PTVI 2/3 +2m41s)
  • 12:05 PM: PTVI1 Women's start (PTVI 2/3 +3m11)

  • 12:25 PM: PTS4 Men's Departure
  • 12:35 PM: PTS5 Women's Departure
  • 12:40 PM: PTS4 Women's Departure

Ticket enquiries will be handled through Paris 2024. This will be an opportunity for the public to support the Paratriathlon athletes and celebrate the Games in a festive and popular atmosphere in the heart of Paris.

World Triathlon will continue to monitor the water quality and flow of the Seine on a daily basis.
