Melina Alonso and Nan Oliveras take the podium in Valparaíso

Melina Alonso achieved the silver in elite female category and Nan Oliveras got the bronze medal in the men's event.

 

 

Great day for the Spaniards in the PATCO Triathlon Cup of Valparaíso disputed last March 30 Sunday in Chilean lands. Melina Alonso achieved the silver in female elite category and Nan Oliveras I got the bronze medal in the men's event.

 

Also, in the men's competition, Diego Paz and Antonio Serrat they also offered outstanding performances, both entering the Top-10 of the final classification. The competition has been developed on a first swimming sector of 1.5 km, followed by 40 km cyclists, with a final segment of 10 km on foot.

 

In females, the British Leanda Cave she proclaimed herself the winner with a comfortable advantage over the rest, thanks to a brilliant run on foot. After her, Melina Alonso crossed the finish line taking the silver medal; while the Brazilian Luisa Baptista, the bronze medal was hung.

 

Alonso starred in a very regular competition in which he obtained the best partial in the cycling segment, remaining throughout the test in the prominent positions. The other Spaniard at the helm, Maria Ortega, took the lead after completing the initial 1.5 km of swimming, but she had to leave due to problems during the cycle.

 

For their part, the Spanish triathletes started the swim segment very well placed, leaving the water in the first positions. Nan Oliveras would stand out during the following two sectors, especially in the one of foot race, in which it obtained the best record and it would take it to the third place of the final podium.

 

The local triathlete, Felipe Barraza won with the triumph, followed by the Brazilian Marcus Vinicius Fernandes Secondly. As long as Nan Oliveras entered third to 40 seconds of Fernandes. While Diego Paz and Antonio Serrat were classified in fourth and fifth place respectively. Unfortunately, the fourth Spanish representative Iñaki Baldellou had to retire during the race on foot.
