Pontevedra has hosted different international Triathlon events for many years, the 2019 Multisport World Championship being the last of them and an indelible memory for the city and the athletes since it was the best world championship in the modality to date. .

The president of the Spanish Triathlon Federation wanted to highlight that "This year 2022 we celebrate a special World Cup for several reasons.

The first of these is that for the first time in a major international competition Javier Gómez Noya will not be at the starting line in his city, although he will be accompanying the Spanish representatives.

It is also very special as it is the test for next year's Grand Final, as evidenced by the interest aroused by a World Cup that this year goes beyond competition.

And this is demonstrated by the representation that it will have both inside and outside the competition, both athletes and representatives of the World Triathlon at the highest level.

A competition in which I hope that once again our athletes are fighting for the podiums in one of our talismanic cities and that has given more joy to the Spanish triathlon".

For his part, the mayor of Pontevedra, Miguel Anxo Fernández Lores, highlighted the enormous "illusion" and "joy" of being closer to the celebration of the Triathlon World Cup of which the Boa Vila will be headquarters next weekend. «It is a very important test, which is raising tremendous expectations and this is demonstrated by the number of people who not only want to participate, but also want to see the capacity of our city when it comes to hosting this type of event.".

The councilor recalled that this weekend's test is, in some way, a thorough and magnificent test for the Grand Final of the Triathlon World Series that will be held in Pontevedra next year. «VWe are going to live up to this World Cup and it will be the best test we could have.

We know that almost a hundred representatives from different triathlon federations will come to check out the circuit, think about what's coming and get to know Boa Vila. Pontevedra really is a city for sports, and this is one more proof that proves it.".
