Pontevedra will host the Grand Final of the Triathlon World Series in 2026

The Galician city of Pontevedra has been unanimously chosen to host the World Triathlon Series Grand Final again in 2026, following its successful hosting in 2023.
The decision was made during the executive committee meeting of World triathlon, held in Torremolinos, and is a new recognition of Pontevedra's commitment to triathlon.
An expected return to Pontevedra
Marisol Married, president of World triathlon and member of COI, expressed his satisfaction in announcing the choice of Pontevedra: “It is an honour that, in my last executive term as president, a great event has once again been awarded to Spain, and specifically to Pontevedra, for its great support of our sport.".
This choice confirms Pontevedra as a world reference for triathlon. The mayor of the city, Miguel Anxo Fernandez Lores, also expressed his enthusiasm: “Pontevedra could not be more proud of hosting the World Series Final for the second time.
I want to thank World triathlon We have already expressed our trust in our city to all the international federations. We will try to make the best Final possible.".
José Hidalgo, President of the Spanish Federation of Triathlon, highlighted that Spain is consolidating itself as the world's triathlon paradise: “If we were already talking about a milestone when Spain was the first country to organize two consecutive finals with Pontevedra and Torremolinos, announcing that in 2026 we will return to our country means the consolidation of Spain as a benchmark for major events. World triathlon".
Pontevedra, a model city dedicated to sport
Mayor Fernández Lores also referred to the city model of Pontevedra, which has been key to attracting events of this level.This type of large international events, as will be the 2025 Multisport World Championship, are possible thanks to an internationally recognised city model designed for people.

A key venue on the international calendar
Over the next four years, Spain will host three of the finals of the World Triathlon Series, the most important annual event in the sport.
These finals will decide the elite world champions and will also host the Under 23, Junior, Paralympic Triathlon and Age Group World Championships.
The sequence of endings includes Pontevedra in 2023, Torremolinos-Andalusia in 2024, Wollongong (Australia) in 2025, and again Pontevedra in 2026This reflects the great confidence placed in Spanish cities and their ability to offer ideal settings for elite triathlon.
