Pontevedra takes over the 2025 multisport world championship
El Multisport Triathlon World Championship disputed in Townsville, Australia, has officially ended by passing the flag to Pontevedra, the Spanish city that will host this prestigious event in June 2025.
In one act, Emilio Martín, world and European champion in duathlon, was in charge of receiving the relay, symbolizing Pontevedra's commitment to hosting a week of intense multisport competition.
Three world titles for the Triarmada in Townsville
The Spanish participation in Townsville has been spectacular, obtaining three world titles.
The first was Javier Martín, who became world duathlon champion in a memorable race, beating the Frenchman in a final sprint Benjamin Choquert, considered one of the great dominators of international duathlon in recent years. Antonio Benito, another name to follow, finished in eleventh position, reaffirming the competitiveness of Spanish athletes in this discipline.
The Aquathlon World Championship also brought joy for Spain, with Kevin Tarek Viñuela climbing to the top of the podium, accompanied by Cristian Fernandez, who hung the bronze.
The finishing touch was Antonio Benito, who, after a change of distances in his sporting career, added the title of long-distance world champion, beating the Australian Steven Mckenna and the Belgian louis naeyaert.
Pontevedra, ready for the challenge of 2025
After the success of the World Series Finals in 2023 and the Multisport Championship in 2019, Pontevedra is once again preparing to be the epicenter of world triathlon.
The organizing committee has already begun preparations, meeting for the first time in March 2024 to define the guidelines of the event that will take place from June 20-29, 2025.
