Why won't Sam Long Kona run this year?

The young American triathlete Sam long has confirmed that he will not run this year in the IRONMAN of Hawaii, although he could be one of the favorites for victory.

Instead Long announced that he was going to participate in the Roth Challenge. Shortly after the triathlete himself commented on his reasons on social networks.

"The news is true. I have no intention of going to Kona this year. I have decided to focus on @challengeroth and then I will focus on the middle distance.

For my development and my career I don't want to be focused on the full distance all year. The Roth has always called me and following my heart is number 1″.

After Roth, the goal is the 70.3 World Cup

Once I pass Challenge Roth, Long will focus on the middle distance event, being the IRONMAN World Championship 70.3 from St George his main goal.

Sam was second there last year, behind Gustav Iden, and this year he will try to get the win.

Next goal is the St. George World Cup

Although Kona has already been ruled out in October, this 2022 he does intend to go to the St. George World Cup that will be held on May 7.

Long, is preparing this test conscientiously, proof of this was the consecutive victories he achieved in CLASHMiami y Challenge Puerto Varas.
