Like every summer at this time, the Valley of the Guadalquivir It becomes one of the areas with the highest temperatures in Spain. Well, even though the mercury far exceeds the 40 degrees, there are brave people who defy the heat and undertake an adventure that is only for the chosen ones: swimming, cycling and running. They are the participants of Triathlon Iron Caliphs and Calima Challenge Posadas.

This Cordovan town has been launched to the street, as in the previous editions 25, to try with the encouragement of hundreds of people, that these high temperatures are more bearable among the nearly one thousand registered in this double triathlon event, in category sprint and in middle distance.

This last one served this year, in addition, to determine who is the champion of Andalusia. This honor has fallen to Javier Iglesias, who has entered the finish line with more than enough time to savor an important triumph in his record, despite his youth. In the female category, victory has taken her Beatriz Jiménez. Both will wear during the next year the privilege of being the champions of Andalusia of medium distance.

Javier Iglesias: "The third and fourth rounds have been in the lead, because it was broken, the legs were almost gone. But the good stretch of swimming and cycling I've done have allowed me to be able to regulate and end up winning. It has been very hot, but it is inevitable here. We have overdrawn it. This victory is not coincidence, I have fulfilled the objective of training and more satisfied I can not be ".

Meanwhile, in the Triathlon Iron Caliphs (sprint distance), victory has taken her Samer Ali-Saad. Germán Rodríguez would come out of the water in first position, with a clear advantage. But immediately, in the cycling sector, a small group would be in the lead. Samer Ali-Saad, current winner of the Andalusian Triathlon Circuit and Andalusian Sprint Triathlon Champion last season, tipped the balance in the running race, where he imposed his top speed. It was in the final 5 kilometers in which he left behind those who had been his escape companions until then, which would ultimately be second and third. Those positions on the podium were occupied by Germán Rodríguez (who reached 53 seconds behind Samer) and Antonio Gómez de la Torre respectively.

Samer Ali-Saad: "I still enjoy triathlon, and this is the result of these good training. I work morning and afternoon, so getting wins like this has a lot of merit. In the water I am having a little bit more, I have given everything in the 3 first kilometers of bike, running I have been a bit heavy but in the end things have come out ".

In the female category, the triumph took him Rocío Molas, with a time of 1: 05: 53, with a wide difference of almost 10 minutes on Mariola Verdejo (winner of the Andalusian triathlon circuit last season) and Irene Cabrera.

Rocío Molas: "Very happy with this victory. The temperatures have been lower than other years and that has made this more bearable. The public motivates you a lot during the race and that gives you more motivation. Despite the discomfort in the knee, which has caused me some fear, I got an advantage and I regulated it well to finish winning. "
