Gustavo Rodríguez, Víctor del Corral and Mavi García favorites for the Spanish Duathlon MD Championship in Orihuela
In the women's competition Mavi Garcia is the undisputed favorite and opts for his third consecutive title, while in the men's race two triathletes who know what it is to step on the podium of Embrunman are the main candidates to win, Gustavo Rodríguez y Víctor del Corral
Next March 5 Sunday for the fourth consecutive year the city of Alicante Orihuela hosts the Spain Middle Distance Duathlon Championship (in previous years of LD) with a large participation in both male and female categories. The test also belongs to the circuit No Drafting Series and is organized by A300w.
In the male category, as we have previously mentioned, two duathletes are the main candidates for victory, Gustavo Rodríguez He defends his title and arrives after a few weeks of concentration in Pulpí and Víctor del Corral who is already recovered from the physical problems he had at the end of last season. In addition to the two of them, we must also take into account Pablo Martín bronze medal in 2016, Rubén Peñuela fourth last year and Raul Amatriain double champion of Spain of Duathlon LD. Other candidates to fight for the top positions are David Pablo Sanchez e Ibai AlbaFinally, we must also highlight the Balearic Islands Josep Torres who is registered in the competition and everything seems to indicate that he will be born after an 2016 where he could not perform at 100% for different injuries.
As regards the women's competition Mavi García is the favorite to take the victory, who also arrives at a great moment in the way he showed last week at the Powerman de Mallorca. Three other duathletes aspire to positions of honor, Lucia Pérez, Yessica Pérez y Alba Reguillo. We must also highlight the participation of Mª Remedios Carrasco, who returns to Orihuela after a hard 2016 due to injuries.
The race consists of 16km of running races followed by 66 cycling to finish with 8km of running race. The competition will start the 9: 00 with the male elite start, 5 'will be the elite female start, 2' after the paratriathletes and finally the ggee.
