The preview of the 2024 MD Spanish Championship

Next Saturday, May 18, the city of Pamplona will host the ninth edition of the Half Triathlon Pamplona-Iruña, that this year will be MD 2024 Spanish Triathlon and Aquabike Championship.
The 1,9 kilometer swimming segment will take place in the Alloz reservoir, whose waters have recently been recognized with the Blue Flag for their quality and safety.
Participants will then travel 85 kilometers in bike from Aritzaleku to El Bosquecillo park in Pamplona, where T2 will be located.
Finally, the 19,5 kilometer foot race will take place in three laps around the historic walls of Pamplona and the old town, culminating in the spectacular finish line of the Plaza del Castillo.
Favorites
In the male category, Guillem Montiel He is emerging as the main favorite, thanks to his excellent performance in recent tests. However, he must face rivals of the caliber of Carlos Oliver, who already beat him in Valencia, and Fernando Zorrilla, who arrives at the test in great shape. Other candidates to consider are Iñaki Baldellou, Pello Osoro, Jaime Left, Julen Lopetegui y Gonzalo Fuentes.
In the female category, Marta Sanchez She starts as the big favourite, although we will have to see how her recent participation in the HOMBRE DE HIERRO and in Xilxes.
Your main rivals will be Helene Alberdi, Sofia Aguayo y Laura Gomez, who promise an exciting fight for the podium. You will also have to pay attention to María Varo, who could surprise if he demonstrates his strength in the cycling segment.

The competition will begin at 13:30 p.m., with the arrival of the first triathletes at T2 in El Bosquecillo expected around 16:00 p.m., and the finish line for the first place finisher is expected around 17:15 p.m.
The Elite awards ceremony is estimated to take place around 18:30 p.m., with the awards ceremony for the Age Groups and the Navarre Distance Championship at 20:30 p.m.

In the elite category, the prizes for the Top 3 men and women are €2.500, €1.500 and €1.000, respectively.
