Full preview of the 2025 Lievin Indoor Cup

This Saturday, March 22, the world's triathlon news moves to the French city of Lievin for the T1 Indoor Triathlon Cup 2025.
This event has a unique and explosive format that will thrill more than 5.000 spectators.
The key? Very short distances and full-speed runs: 200 meters of swimming (in a 25-meter pool), 2,8 kilometers of cycling, and 1 kilometer of running.
A careless mistake, a misplaced foot, or a couple of seconds of distraction can cost you qualification, because the knockout system is unforgiving.
Super sprint format and knockout rounds: pure adrenaline
The day begins with five heats for 12 men's triathletes. The top five in each heat automatically advance to the semifinals, while the rest compete in the repechage. The same applies to the women in their corresponding qualifying rounds.
Each triathlete competes in at least two heats, which gives the event a strategic vision: they must find the perfect balance between expending energy to advance and conserving strength for the following rounds.
Once this phase is completed, the semi-finals arrive, where only a few will make it to Final A (positions 1 to 12) and Final B (positions 13 to 24).
Male Favorites: Hayden Wilde, Mitch Kolkman, and More
In the men's race, all bets are on the New Zealander. Hayden Wilde, a specialist in rapid trials who has two Olympic medals and the Super Sprint World Champion title (2023). He's the man to beat, but he'll have other triathletes to consider.
- mitch kolkman (NED), Olympian in Paris and very fast swimmer.
- Chase mcqueen (USA), current Supertri E champion, dangerous if he arrives on foot with options.
- Henry Graff (GER), a young revelation who shone in mixed relays at the World Cup.
- Tom Richard (FRA), local favorite with the extra motivation of the home crowd.

Cassandre Beaugrand and Laura Lindemann lead the women's race
The women's category is not far behind either. The French Cassandre Beaugrand, Olympic champion in Paris and world champion in 2024, heads the star list ready to start 2025 with a victory at home.
At her side, the German Laura Lindemann, winner in Lievin last year, will seek to retain her crown.
But beware, other triathletes are in great shape:
- Sandra Dodet (FRA), with the warmth of the home fans.
- Rosa Maria Tapia Vidal (MEX), elite runner with track experience.
- Tanja Neubert (GER), key in the mixed relay of Abu Dhabi 2025.
- jolien vermeylen (BEL), won his first World Cup at the end of 2024 and knows how to move over these short distances.
Spaniards in the test
In men, Genis Grau He stands out after his second place at Lievin 2022 (only surpassed by Vincent Luis). He's an athlete who shines in sprint and super sprint distances, with a very quick transition and a self-confidence that has brought him more than one joy.
He is accompanied by other talents such as Hector Tolsa, Izan Edo, Stephen Basanta, nacho galvez, Jose Ramon Jimenez y David Gonzalez, all of them with a competitive hunger.
In the women's event, the Spanish delegation is led by Sara Guerrero, a short-distance specialist with great strength in running. Alongside her, Marta Pintanel, Maria Casals, María Teresa Jiménez-Orta, Alejandra Seguí, Celine Senia y Raquel Arostegui complete the Spanish block ready to assault the final rounds.
