The preview of the PTO European Tour
El PTO Tour 2023 starts on May 6 with the first European Open, offering a total prize of $600.000 and $100.000 to each winner.
The PTO has partnered with World Triathlon to run the race in conjunction with the Multisport World Championships on the island of Ibiza, Spain.
The distance of the race will be the usual 100k, with 2k swimming, 80k cycling and 18km running through the old town of Ibiza.
Men's Qualifier: Showdown of Olympic Champions
In this edition of the European Open, the gold medalists of the last four Olympic Games will meet, marking the first time that Jan Frodeno (41 years) Alistair Brownlee (35 years) and Kristian Blummenfelt (29 years old) compete together.
Blummenfelt , is the main favourite. Gold in Tokyo and winner in St George, he hasn't won any PTO Tour event yet, so he will surely try it in Ibiza.
The British Alistair Brownlee, double olympic champion will be a strong contender if he is well. In the last Canadian Open he led the race until he suffered stomach problems that made him finish 24th overall.
Another to take into account will be German Jan Frodeno, who will compete again after almost 2 years. His last race was at Roth, where he retired.
It will also be necessary to take into account in the bets to Magnus Ditlev, winner in Roth, and second in his debut at IM Texas and at the 2022 US Open he will surely be fighting for victory,
Other triathletes to keep in mind will be Frederik funk (GER, 25 years old), Daniel Baekkegard (DEN, 26 years old), Ben Kanute (USA, 30 years old) or Aaron Royle (AUS, 33 years old) among others

Women's preview of the PTO European Open
The PTO European Open in the women's category presents an impressive list of the best middle and long distance triathletes.
All the women in the Top 10 in the ranking they are on the starting list for Ibiza, and an exciting competition is expected.
The presence of Ashleigh Gentle (32 years) Lucy Charles-Barclay (29 years) Daniela Ryf (35 years) and Chelsea Sodaro (33 years old) as the great favorites.
Ashleigh arrives as one of the great favorites since in 2022 she won the victory in the PTO Tour 2022 and in her confrontation in the Collins Cup.
Ryf, won in Kona between 2015 and 2018 and is one of the best triathletes and we will have to wait and see his performance in the test.
Chelsea Sodaro arrives at this event as the current winner of the World Cup HOMBRE DE HIERRO in 2022 and will surely seek victory.
Other triatelts to take into account will be Anne Haug, the Spanish Sarah Perez Hall, winner in The Championship 2022, Paula Findlay, Holly Lawrence o Emma Pallant Browne among others.
