Preview of the Hamburg 2024 World Triathlon Series
With the arrival of the Hamburg stop of the 2024 Triathlon World Series, we are at the midpoint of the season.
With two races already contested, the classification is beginning to be defined, although many changes can still occur.
It is important to remember that athletes will carry their three best results from the Series races, the Olympic Games and the Continental Championships to the final of the WTCS in Torremolinos-Andalusia, which will be held in our country in October.
Due to the cancellation of the test in Abu Dhabi, Hamburg will be the only sprint distance event of the 2024 Series.

However, this presents a particular challenge since, being at less than three weeks before the Olympics, athletes are faced with the decision of whether to participate to test their form or save energy for Paris.
Previous female
Luke Willian (AUS) and Emma lombi (FRA) will look to maximize their points in Hamburg. While Willian will secure his lead with a top-9 finish,
Lombardi will need a similar result to maintain his position. Both will face competition from their own compatriots, with Matthew Hauser (AUS) and Cassandre Beaugrand (FRA) presenting themselves as the greatest challenges.
Lisa Tertsch (GER), who enters his home race in third position overall, will look to improve his performance and possibly unseat Lombardi from the lead. To do this, Tertsch needs to win and for Lombardi to finish no better than tenth. With the absence of Taylor Knibb (USA), a reconfiguration of the women's top-3 is expected. In the men's category, the absences of charles pack (CAN) and Csongor Lehmann (HUN) also anticipate significant changes.
In addition to Lombardi and Tertsch, three other women have the mathematical possibility of leading the classification: Beaugrand, Kate Waugh (GBR) and Anna Godoy Contreras (ESP)
Beaugrand, winner in Hamburg last year and in 2018, will be one of the athletes to watch. However, to take the lead, she will need to keep Lombardi out of the top-9 and Tertsch out of the top-7 if she wins.
Previous male
In the male category, Vincent Luis (FRA), Morgan Pearson (USA) and Alberto Gonzalez Garcia placeholder image (ESP) are in the fight for the leadership.
Willian has been in the top ten in Yokohama and Cagliari, but if he fails to achieve a good result in Hamburg, Luis and Pearson are better positioned to take advantage of the opportunity.
With the Olympic Games so close, many eyes are on Paris. Among the Olympic medal hopefuls who will compete in Hamburg are the world champion Beth Potter (GBR), and the WTCS gold medalists Maya Kingma (NED) and Rachel Klamer (NED).
In the men's category, the participation of Pierre Le Corre (FRA) and Basque Vilaca (POR), who seeks to recover after a hard fall in Yokohama.
