Rubén Ruzafa proclaims himself World Champion of Triathlon Cros. Roger Serrano gets the gold in Sub23

The Spaniards are made of gold in the Cros Triathlon World Championship of Zittau

 

 

On a memorable day for the Spanish triathlon and paratriathlon, our representatives in the Cros Triathlon World Championship have conquered the Saxon city of Zittau with a stellar performance. In elite category Male Rubén Ruzafa he was proclaimed champion of the world of the modality, with Roger Serrano doing the same in Sub23 category. While that Juan Luis de Andrés led with his triumph the three Spanish paratriathletes in the field, all of them rising to the podium in their respective categories

 

After the two swimming laps of a total of 1500 m, Ruzafa left more than two minutes away from the leaders. The Malaga, runner-up of the modality in 2013, cemented his victory in a splendid cyclist segment, demonstrating his great qualities in a sector of enormous hardness. Along the difficult route of 36 km, Ruzafa managed to cut the distances and advanced towards the leadership maintaining a great dominion over the rest. Thus, arriving at the second transition, Ruzafa had a two minute advantage and 45 seconds over the second classified, the American Josiah Middaugh and close to four minutes on the New Zealander Braden Currie.

 

Already during the final lap of 8,5 km of running, the Spaniard maintained the first position, to cross the finish line in first position with an advantage of 55 seconds, after a sensational exhibition in the cycling sector. After him, Middaugh achieved the silver medal and Currie the bronze medal.

 

While the other two Spanish participants in the elite competition, ended with Albert Soley reaching the 25ª position and Albert Sardá the 43ª square.

 

Roger Serrano, gold in Sub23

 

In the Sub23 category, Roger Serrano proclaimed himself the winner, surprising from the start, completing the first segment in an outstanding third position and remaining in the first places of the general during the cycle.

 

At the exit of the T2 Serrano was placed in the ninth position, and after a splendid performance obtained the title Sub23, at the same time that was classified in 13ª position of the general. While the other Spanish at the helm, Rodrigo García Baquero obtained the 14º placed in the Sub23 classification.

 

Previously, Kevin Tarek Viñuela had garnered a remarkable fourth place in the junior competition. The Spaniard ended the swim in first position, to then have a prominent role throughout the rest of the competition, placing himself in the first places to enter the finish line, staying close to reaching the bronze medal.

 

The paratriathletes shine with their own light

For their part, our paratriathletes also became great protagonists in the German town, thanks to their brilliant performance. The paratriathletes, like the juniors, faced an arduous and technical circuit, which began with a first sector of 750 m of swimming through a triangular circuit, to continue with 24,8 km cyclists and face a final segment of 5,5 , XNUMX km of running.

 

In a magnificent performance, Juan Luis de Andrés was imposed in the PT3 category, with the Dutch Reitze Bok hanging the silver medal. While Joaquín Carrasco completed the podium after shining in the race on foot.

 

Rafa Solis obtained the subchampionship in PT4, excelling especially in the cycling and running segments. Ahead, the Hungarian Peter Boronkay rose with the gold and the Austrian Martin Falch signed the bronze medal.
