Rubén Ruzafa XTERRA World Sub-Champion

The Malaga native who has lost the first position in the race on foot has achieved the second place. Roger Serrano eleventh

 

Today was held in Maui (Hawaii) the twenty-first edition of the XTERRA World Championship where in the starting line we had two Spaniards in the professional category Rubén Ruzafa and Roger Serrano. Among the favorites for the victory were the winner last year, Josiah Middaug and the Ironman World Champion Sebastian Kienle, where many looks were placed.

The test began at 9 in the morning local time, (21:00 p.m. Spanish time) with the 1 km of swimming in the sea where the triathletes have faced a quite rough sea. Courtney Atkinson was the first out of the water followed by Ben Allen at 5 seconds and Leonardo Chacon at 10. Roger Serrano came out in seventh position at 32 seconds and Rubén Ruzafa the 40th at 16:2 from the head. Sebastian Kienle started 30th at 18:2.

 Already in the cycling sector, the triathletes faced the 32 km of BTT in a hard circuit marked by the past rains, where the strength and skill of the malagueño has made him overcome positions to reach the T2 in first position with 4: 30 minutes ahead of Mauricio Méndez and a minute more on Been Allen. The champion of last year,  Josiah Middaug, came more than 7 minutes from the head. Roger Serrano came fifth, 12 minutes behind Malaga. 

In the 10 km of Trail Runnig, Rubén Ruzafa he could not maintain an advantage and the victory was for the Mexican Mauricio Méndez in a time of 2:49:39, which made the 10 km in just 42:07 minutes, followed by the man from Mañagueño Rubén Ruzafa (2:51:03) in second position. Ben Allen (2:53:50) was third. last year's champion Josiah Middaugh was finally fifth with a foot race sector. The other Spanish representative Roger Serrano I finish in the eleventh position with a final time of 3: 05: 34

Flora Duffy imposes her law with an overwhelming victory and gets her third world title

In the female category, Flora Duffy winner in 2014 and 2015 and ITU Triathlon World Champion this year, she was the big favorite, although triathletes of the stature of Lesley Patterson , second last year, or Myriam Guillot they started betting on the title.

First out of the water was Flora Duffy followed by Michelle Flipo at 1:30 and Joana Brown 10 seconds behind. In the cycling sector, Duffy proved that she is unrivaled by increasing her lead and reaching T2 almost 7 minutes ahead of Myriam Guillot-Boisset and Suzie Snyder who came 40 seconds behind. 

The final victory was for a great Flora Duffy with a time of 3: 15: 00 that dominated the test from start to finish. The British Lesley Patterseon (3: 25: 02) entered second position at 10 minutes. The third final position was for Suzie Snyder (3: 29: 04)

 With this victory Flora Duffy closes a magnificent year, with the ITU Triathlon World Championship and her third XTERRA World Championship.
