Rubén Ruzafa sub-champion of the World of Triathlon Cros
Rubén has not been able to get his fourth world title and now he sets his sights on getting the fourth Xterra world title.
Today has been held in Penticton (Canada) the Cros Triathlon World Championship, where the malagueño Rubén Ruzafa, Skechers athlete, has won the runner-up behind the Mexican Franciso Serrano.
Rubén continues to be one of the best athletes in the specialty, where to date he has achieved victory in the World Cup in 2014, 2015 and 2016 and where we must add the Xterra World Championships in 2008, 2013 and 2014.
In the test today Ruzafa was the clear favorite with Ben Allen, fifth in the World Championship last year and the Mexican Francisco Serrano among others.
The test that started at the 16: 00 km was played on a distance of 1,5 km of swimming, 31 km of BTT to finish with 8 km of Trail Running

The first to get out of the water was Ben Allen followed by Brice Daubord to 2 seconds, behind the Mexican Francisco Serrano to 20 and Rubén Ruzafa 12º to 1: 20 of the head of the race. Rubén had a mechanical problem on the bike where he had to inflate the front wheel losing valuable time that was crucial for the development of the test.
Already on the bike, the Malaga man showed his strength in this segment recovering the time lost in the water and reaching the head of the race with Ben Allen and sub 23 Kyle Smith in the middle of the route. Finally Rubén reached T2 alone, going for a run 30 seconds ahead of Ben Allen and 40 seconds ahead of Kyle Smith and Mexican Francisco Serrano.
Already in the career sector Rubén Ruzafa could not keep his advantage and was overtaken in the last kilometer by the Mexican Francisco Serrano that got the victory in a time of 02: 09: 25. Rubén Ruzafa (02: 09: 36) entered the second goal to only 11 seconds followed by the 23 sub Kyle Smith (02: 10: 16) occupying the third final position.
