Rudy Von Berg is focused on the IRONMAN Pro Series for 2025

The American Triathlete Rudy von berg has decided to give a twist to its calendar for 2025.
After living with a “hybrid” year in 2024, the world runner-up HOMBRE DE HIERRO 70.3 and third at the last IRONMAN World Championship in Kona has put the spotlight on the iconic long-distance racing franchise.
He hopes to shine at next year's major events and, as he has confessed, hopes to win the crown in Nice, which will host one of the IRONMAN World Championships.
This decision aligns him with other names in long distance, such as Magnus ditlev y Sam Laidlow, who have also opted for the IRONMAN Pro Series instead of the circuit T100 Triathlon World Tour.
A shift in its competitive strategy
Since the end of the IRONMAN World Championship in Kona, where Rudy von berg achieved a creditable third place, speculation about his future has not stopped.
Some rumours suggested that he would continue to combine various high-level competitions. But the triathlete himself surprised many by confirming that he wants to make better use of his preparation and plan for peaks of fitness.
"I have decided to focus on the IRONMAN Pro Series in 2025. I will aim to perform well in three Ironman events and two IRONMAN 70.3 events, with the intention of making the most of the World Championships in September and November.", wrote Von Berg in social media.
This change of plans implies putting aside the contract he had with T100 in 2024, an agreement that led him to compete in symbolic places such as Challenge Roth and the Kona event. Although he enjoyed those experiences, the calendar, he says, was not optimal for giving his best performance in each race.
The reasons for his decision for 2025
The Factor triathlete points out that the distribution of events last season prevented him from “fine-tuning” each peak of his form.
Participating in various formats and with such a tight schedule took its toll, especially when preparing for such different events in a short time frame.
He explained that this time he is looking for a more selective approach:
- Three IRONMAN races throughout the year, with strategic months between each to train and recover.
- Two IRONMAN 70.3 events, which will serve as preparation to maintain speed and control intensities.
- Main goal: give it your all at the IRONMAN World Championships (Nice or Kona) and the 70.3 World Championship, scheduled for the second half of the year.
Although Von Berg admits that the T100 Triathlon World Tour has helped promote the sport and help triathletes achieve greater earnings, he believes that his personal goals are further reinforced by the IRONMAN schedule.
In his opinion, it is possible to “choose races better and train more calmly,” which translates into superior performance in the events that really matter.
This change of course of Rudy von berg towards the legendary franchise underlines IRONMAN's ability to remain the most prestigious reference in long distance racing.
The fact that it features top-level athletes such as Von Berg, Ditlev and Laidlow reflects the brand's international relevance.
