Kenyan Ruth Chepngetich stopped the clock at 1.04: 02

Ruth Chepngetich has made history today in the Istanbul half marathon managing to beat the world record in the distance with a 1 time: 04: 02 under the rain.

The Kenyan athlete was World Marathon Champion in Doha 2019 and it is the third time she has won this event (2017, 2019 and 2021)

With this time, Chepngetich has beaten in almost 29 seconds the previous record of Ababel Yeshaneh in 1.04: 31 achieved in Ras Al Khaimah (United Arab Emirates) on February 21, 2020.

This means running at an average of 3:02 min / km

In the men's category the victory has been for the record holder in the distance Kibiwott Kandie (59:35.) But he couldn't beat his own mark which is at 57:32
