Sara Pérez and Viktors Vovrusko winners of the VI Timanfaya Triathlon

The tourist resort of Playa Blanca, in Yaiza, became Saturday's epicenter of triathlon, celebrating one of the first tests of the season.

To the south of the island of Lanzarote many triathletes wanting to check their fitness at the start of the season and enjoy a fun test. Viktors Vovrusko y Sara Perez, fulfilled the pronoticos and took the victory in the sixth edition of the Timanfaya Triathlon.

The participating triathletes concentrated on the beach of town of Playa Blanca, living with intensity the previous moments and counting the remaining minutes until Daniel Medina, Councilor for Sports of the Municipality of Yaiza, gave the starting signal to the Timanfaya Triathlon. A sprint triathlon with 750 meters to swim, 20 kilometers of bike segment and a walking race of 5 kilometers.

The men's category test was decided in the race segment. A group of six triathletes marked the head of the race on their arrival in the last transition zone. From that moment, Viktors Vovruko printed a strong pace in the race on foot, putting himself in front of the test and increasing the difference in each of the laps.

Viktors Vovrusko crossed the finish line as winner of the VI Timanfaya Triathlon, using a time of 58 minutes and 40 seconds to complete the course. The second place on the podium was for Víctor Bouzón (58: 55), and the third position would be for Michael Lavender (58: 58).

Less hard was the test in the women's category, with Madrid's Sara Pérez in charge of leading the Timanfaya Triathlon in its three segments. The Olympian demonstrated her supremacy in the swimming race, clearly ahead of the rest of the competitors. In the bicycle segment he maintained the differences and sentenced the test in a race on foot in which he printed a strong rhythm.

Sara Perez he won the sixth edition of the Timanfaya Triathlon with a time of 1 hour, 2 minutes and 20 seconds. The second place on the podium was for Amber Rombaut (01: 07: 12) entering the finish line almost five minutes from the winner. The Canary Islands Delioma González He had a great comeback in the race on foot and that served to be the third classified (01: 09: 01).

The sixth edition of the Timanfaya Triathlon was closed with the awarding of trophies, with the first three winners of the overall and the first three of each of the age groups awarded. An act that was attended by Patricia Pérez, sports councilor of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Oscar Noda, mayor of Yaiza, and Daniel Medina, mayor of Deportes de Yaiza.

The Timanfaya Triathlon was organized by Trimakina with the collaboration of the Yaiza City Council, Turismo Lanzarote, European Sport Destination, h20 Hotels, Acttiv, Fundgrube, Rubicón Shop & Fun, O3 Zone Sport Lanzarote and Coca-Cola.
