Eva Ledesma Second in the Volcano Lanzarote
The ilerdense triathlete based in the Canary Islands continues to reap success in 2011, although this time, unlike the other competitions of the season, she has not achieved victory. She has had to settle for second position in the prestigious Lanzarote Volcano Triathlon, surpassed by the British Rachel Joyce, someone with a sensational record in Ironman triathlons: 5th and 6th in Hawaii 2010 and 2009; and 2nd in Lanzarote 2009. She is a great swimmer (
“I am very happy because Rachel only got me the two minutes of swimming on the finish line; By bike and on foot we have done similar partials. She is at full capacity for the Ironman Lanzarote on May 22 where she is one of the favorites. I may have accused having competed in Fuerteventura last week but of course I am not using it as an excuse. Now I have three weeks until the Calella Challenge triathlon, of which I will spend two in Gran Canaria with a lot of training load and the last one I will be more relaxed at my home in Lleida ”.
