Valencia will live this weekend the second edition of Valencia LD

Yesterday, the second edition of the Valencia LD middle distance triathlon. With 1.900 meters of swimming, 90 kilometers of cycling and 21 km of runs on foot, the test will start on Sunday 2 June to the 8 of the morning having as central point the Royal Navy Juan Carlos I.

 

 

The event will gather more than 700 triathletes in an appointment that has been shielded at the security level and that, according to Silvia Comeche, communication manager at Valencia LD, "this is the first audited sporting event at the level of responsibility and safety from start to finish". To achieve this, the organization will deploy a team of more than 550 people among staff, medical teams, security teams and volunteers.

 

Cristóbal Grau, Sports Councilor of the City of Valencia, said that "from the city hall everything that has to do with the celebration of popular sporting events has become one of our strategic lines. In addition, here two major objectives are combined: the popular event, although in this case it is more selective, and continue to provide an ambitious agenda to the space of the Royal Navy Juan Carlos I ".

 

A sport that becomes popular

The triathlon continues to boom and good proof of this is that, despite being a mid-distance competition, there is a high number of debutants and an 41% of non-federated participants.

 

From the Federation of Triathlon of the Valencian Community, Arturo Navarro, manager of the entity, has expressed his satisfaction because "this sport continues in growth" and thanked "the organization, the Valencian company Trisense Sport, to bet on this type of format, due to the extreme difficulty involved ".

 

The presentation has been supported by Mateo Castellá, general director of Sports of the Generalitat, who has taken the opportunity to praise the environment in which Valencia LD develops and has ensured that "the Royal Navy Juan Carlos I gives you everything to be able to practice sport. It is a space that was conceived as a space for sailing, but which has now become popular for sports testing practices. " In addition, he highlighted the work of initiatives such as those developed by Trisense Sport at the time of "popularizing such a complicated sport".

 

"A challenge for heroes"

Under the slogan "A challenge for heroes", Valencia LD will turn this weekend the Royal Navy into the nerve center of the sport of transitions with activity from Friday afternoon to Sunday at 5 in the afternoon, closing time of the transition area.

 

From the organization have taken advantage of the presentation to show their appreciation for the support and effort of all those involved in the development of the event and the 15 municipalities involved in the development of cycling circuit.
