Presentation of the Port of Seville Triathlon

An excellent opportunity to enjoy triathlon in the final stretch of summer in emblematic places of the city such as the Torre del Oro or the Guadalquivir River

This Sunday, 14 September, the circuit ŠKODA Triathlon Series arrives to Seville for the dispute of the seventh appointment of the season. It will be in the Triathlon Port of Seville which, for the first time, is the headquarters of this national circuit of popular sports.

An excellent opportunity to enjoy the triathlon in the final stretch of summer in emblematic venues of the city such as the Torre del Oro or the Guadalquivir River. The climatic benefits, the scenery and the prestige granted by the Skoda Triathlon Series have made this Triathlon Port of Seville a great success of participation, skimming the 1.000 registered in its inaugural edition under this name.

The test was presented this morning at the Aquarium of Seville, right next to where the epicenter of the competition will take place. The event was attended by María del Mar Sánchez Estrella, delegated councilor for Sports of the City Council of Seville; Carmen Castreño, President of the Port of Seville; José María Merchán, president of the Andalusian Triathlon Federation; Carlos Hidalgo, Head of Sports of Onda Cero; and Pedro Lumbreras, triathlete winner of the 2012 edition.

María del Mar Sánchez Estrella, Delegate Councilor for Sports of the City of Seville: "The City Council has the obligation and satisfaction of being close to the sporting events that take place in our city. I want to congratulate for the growth that this test is having in terms of participants. Therefore, we are proud and delighted with the effort the organization is making. It is a satisfaction that the Skoda Triathlon Series have thought of Seville to host one of their tests, with an important circuit. "

Carmen Castreño, president of the Port of Seville: "Very satisfied for the collaboration we have with this test. It is the second time we do it, and I wanted to emphasize that the Port of Seville offers an incentive for this sport in particular. Because it offers the triathlon a unique scenario to run the test by the port area. For us it is a way to bring the reality of the Port of Seville to the city. "

José María Merchán, president of the Andalusian Triathlon Federation: "For us as a federation it is a success to recover this triathlon. Above all, for what the port means for the city of Seville. Hopefully it will be a success and that everyone will enjoy the city. It will be a test in which not only is it competed at a professional level, but it is open to all. Hence, we have Olympic disciplines, sprint, super sprint and relays. We continue with the policy of the Andalusian Triathlon Federation to bring sports to anyone. "

Pedro Lumbreras, winner of the Triathlon Puerto de Sevilla in 2012: "It is an ideal city for the practice of this sport. For me it's been a tough summer because of the injuries. I do not arrive at my best, but I come to give everything and to contest the test, as I did a couple of years ago ".
