The Valencia Half Marathon is suspended

The test that was going to be held on October 25, finally will not be disputed due to the current situation of the Covid-19.

There 20.000 registered runnerss who will be allowed 3 options to choose from.

The Valencia Trinidad Alfonso EDP Half Marathon Organization, run by SD Correcaminos, after evaluating the current health situation and after consulting all the competent authorities, announces the impossibility of holding the race in its 30th edition, which was going to take place on October 25,

In this way, the contact procedure with your 20.000 brokers registered to give the option to choose between the different possibilities they have on their registration.

The cancellation of our event, after spending months working on a historic edition, implies a hard blow to the Organization, which maintains its total commitment to the runner, since the good treatment and concern for the health and safety of the 20.000 registered participants continues to be the engine of our decisions to always be up to the task as an Organization.

We also want to ensure the best guarantees for the celebration of the event for the participants, companions, public and volunteers, in addition to the organizational team, which is not possible to guarantee right now.

3 options for enrollees

In this way, next week all registered runners will receive the instructions to choose between the different options on their 2020 registration:

• Change registration for one  place for the edition in 2021 (October 24, 2021).
• Request the d100% cost evolution of your registration (except for the voluntary solidarity contribution, which will be destined as planned to PayaSOSpital, this year's solidarity entity).
• Waiver of the registration fee to Test as commitment to the organization, who resents the suspension of an event in which he has been working for months. Behind the Valencia Half Marathon there is a large group of people and companies that work throughout the year.

Three months before the scheduled date of this event, we began this suspension process to respond to the concerns of all participants and not to further penalize those runners who have to schedule their travel and accommodation in Valencia.

Paco Borao, race director and president of SD Correcaminos, acknowledged that “We have endured to the maximum because it is a decision that, putting ourselves in the skin of the runner, we do not like to take, but three months after the test and rush all the options, we must respect the runner and announce the cancellation due to the health situation even if it is a decision that we don't like to make".

Become part of the European SuperHalfs circuit

The Valencia Half Marathon is part of the European SuperHalfs circuit, whose runners will be able to start the challenge of completing the five tests in three years from 2021, when this series of half marathons will start together with Prague, Lisbon, Copenhagen and Cardiff.

The same happens with the National Running Circuit of the Canary Islands, together with the tests in Seville, Barcelona, ​​Madrid and Donosti.

Hopefully the next few months will provide us with a truer and safer scenario than we live in now, as we continue working from now to celebrate together our next edition in 2021. It will have been a difficult goal, but it will have been worth it.
