Sara Pérez and Antonio Benito join Javier Gómez Noya in the T100 of Ibiza
Spanish triathletes Sara Perez y Antonio Benito will join the list of participants in the T100 of Ibiza, the fifth stage of the Triathlon World Tour that will be held on Saturday, September 28.
Pérez has had two DNFs this year in the T2, in Miami and the IRONMAN 100 in Valencia in April, but he achieved a good third place in the Challenge of Turku (Finland) a month ago.
Antonio Benito, the recent long-distance triathlon world champion after his victory in Townsville (Australia), will compete in Ibiza a month before taking on the IRONMAN World Championship in Hawaii.
Benito is currently ranked 23rd in the PTO world rankings, and is making his debut in the T100 World Tour in Ibiza, where he won the silver medal at the LD World Championship last year.
Javier Gómez Noya leads the men's lineup
Javier Gómez Noya, initially included in the starting list for the men's elite event, will be accompanied by Antonio Benito, who has received an invitation to compete.
Benito and Noya will face a luxury lineup in Ibiza, including the British Alistair Brownlee, the French Sam Laidlow, current IRONMAN world champion, the Belgian Marten Van Riel and the australian Max Neuman, PTO European Open champion in 2023.
The New Zealander Kyle Smith, the Dutch Youri Keulen and the German Mika Noodt have also been invited to compete in the event.
Sara Pérez, a promising return
In the women's test, Sara Perez returns to the T100 of Ibiza after a difficult start to the season. Before his participation in Ibiza, Pérez will compete as Susana Rodríguez's guide in the Paralympic Games from Paris tomorrow, September 2nd.
The competition in the women's event will be strong, with the presence of the top three in the world ranking, the Australian Ashleigh Gentle and the British India Lee y Lucy Charles-Barclay.
The American Taylor Knibb, recent silver medalist at the Paris Games in the mixed relay, will compete in his first T100 since his victory in San Francisco.
Flora Duffy and US Taylor Spiveand, both Olympic silver medallists in the relays, will also be making their T100 World Tour debut.
The german Anne Haug, winner of the Ibiza PTO race in 2023, and of the La Santa IRONMAN Lanzarote Club this year will also be present at the event.
