Tim Smeenge and Tessa Kortekaas win the 4th Stage MTB Race of Club La Santa
Club La Santa's 4th Stage MTB Race has come to an end after four days packed with cycling on the island of Lanzarote.
Tim Smeenge y Tessa Kortekaas have become the main protagonists of this 23rd edition, where almost 400 participants have lived an unforgettable experience touring volcanic landscapes and trails among vineyards.
The race, held in Tinajo, started strongly from the first day and maintained the tension until the final metres of the fourth stage.
In the men's category, the Spanish Luis Leon Sanchez He won today's stage (1:52:05), but the accumulated time was not enough to overtake the Dutchman Tim Smeenge, who achieved a total time of 8:26:27 and was proclaimed champion. In third place overall, he stood out Sebastian Andres Gesche, from Chile, completing a very close podium.
Meanwhile, in the women's category, the Dutch Tessa Kortekaas He revalidated his leadership with a final time of 10:02:01.
Although Puck Pinxt She fought until the last stage, finishing second, while Janka Keseg took third place. Today was a day that confirmed Kortekaas' dominance, who managed his initial advantage and crossed the finish line in 2:11:33.
Beginning of the last stage
The decisive day started at the Club La Santa Stadium in an atmosphere full of anticipation. The wind did not let up, something typical of Lanzarote, and added an extra challenge to the cyclists.
The first section of the route was relatively flat, but soon came the slopes of the Cuchillo de Tinguatón area, characterized by its volcanic terrain.
Fight to the finish line
The climb of some 12 kilometres through this volcanic area tested the endurance of all participants.
The descent from Mancha Blanca to the finish line then offered a faster stretch, with spectacular views of the sea and vineyards, where each pedal stroke could make the difference in the final classification.

The next big event for Club La Santa will take place on May 3, with the dispute of the Volcano Triathlon, considered the oldest triathlon in Spain.
This test usually has the participation of very well-known figures in the sector and serves as a prelude to the Club Santa HOMBRE DE HIERRO Lanzarote, which is held two weeks later.
