All ready for the Spanish Long Distance Duathlon Championship

Everything is ready to kick off the Spanish Long Distance Duathlon Championship this Sunday, February 22, which will take place in the hamlet of Torremendo in Orihuela.

 

 

A competition that is held for the second year in a row, organized by the Spanish Triathlon Federation, the A300W club with the collaboration of the Valencian Triathlon Federation.

More than 500 duatletas will meet in the early hours of the morning to face a journey whose hardness will accompany the athletes for a few enclaves of great ecological value, which make up a large part of Torremendo's scenography. To start, two laps of 8,5 km of running on foot until completing the 17 km, by a circuit that will cross the old town of the town, to later enter the rural roads that cross the Pantano de La Pedrera and the Sierra de La Escalona , with its significant forest mass.

After carrying out the first segment, it will be the turn of the cycling sector. Along 66 km the duatletas will cross a section of a high difficulty, in which they emphasize his fourteen descents whose extension will oscillate between 500 and 1 km, and that also will be integrated by several branches that will allow the participants to control the distances that the they separate from their adversaries during this sector. Finally, a lap of 8,5 km of race returning to cover the surroundings of the Pantano de la Pedrera Alicante.

In the elite category, Anna Rovira and Raúl Amatriain will seek to revalidate the titles obtained in the 2014 edition. In front they will have to fight against prominent rivals such as Alejandro Jiménez, Roger Roca, Lluís Villa or Manuel Pando in the men's event. For his part, Rovira will fight with duathletes of the stature of Lucía Pérez, Yolanda Magallón or Gurutze Frades among others.
