Everything ready for the Half Madrid

Half Madrid Triathlon opens the second part of the FETRI MD and LD Ranking calendar on Sunday

El Half Triathlon Madrid The second part of the season opens on Sunday, June 16th, in terms of calendar of tests that count towards the Middle and Long Distance Triathlon ranking of the Spanish Triathlon Federation (FETRIMDyLD).

The thirteenth edition of the capital's Middle Distance Triathlon will be held with total participation in the event close to 600 participants.

The central area of the competition will be located on the Casa de Campo lake soccer field, where the tests will begin that are characterized by something unique and exclusive: cycling circuits closed to traffic with a single lap.

The program will begin with the Standard distance test in which the Madrid Championship is held, changing the traditional Short test (half Half and without drafting) for the standard test, so that the Madrid Championship can be held, as there is no such another test year on the calendar.

At 8 a.m. the 350 participants of this test will start, with the official distances of 1500 meters of swimming, 40 kilometers of cycling and 10 kilometers of final running, giving way at 08:45 to the 225 participants of the Half test, scoring for the National Medium and Long Distance Triathlon Ranking.

On the starting lists as the most prominent triathletes are the athletes from Saltoki Trikideak, Sergio Lopez y Carlos Mancebo; the Madrid-based Peñota Dental Alusigma, Diego Mentrida; or the andalusian Ignacio Cabrera, among others.

In the female category they stand out Ana Ramon, from Complutum Triathlon, Patricia Lazaro, from Fitness Sport; Marta romero, from Kálamos; and Maria Arsuaga, from the Ecosport Triathlon Alcobendas.

The first five men and women classified in the Half event will have cash prizes.

Once the swimming test in the Casa de Campo lake is over, the triathletes will take the bike to climb up to Prado del Rey and leave the municipal area of Madrid, passing through various towns in the west of Madrid, and returning again to Casa de Campo to finish the triathlon with a running race, on a route near the lake that is characterized by running largely in the shade.

The Half Madrid Triathlon is sponsored by Banco Santander, and with the collaboration of the Madrid City Council, Specialized, Orca, Coca Cola, Keep Going and Hoka. All the information about the test can be found in the Triathlete's Guide, published on the event website here.
