Mexican triathlete Tomas Rodriguez banned for 2 years for doping

Thomas Rodriguez Hernandez, winner of the North American Championship at the IRONMAN in Texas, has accepted a two-year suspension imposed by World Triathlon, after testing positive in an anti-doping control for the prohibited substance clomiphene.

The International Testing Agency (ITA) announced the sanction on September 13, stating that Rodriguez Hernandez accepted the violation of anti-doping rules and the consequences set by the ITA, which include a two-year suspension, in force from June 6, 2024 to June 5, 2026. In addition, all competitive results from April 27, 2024 will be voided.

The ITA explained that clomiphene is a substance that “has the potential to increase or restore testosterone production and, therefore, increase muscle mass.” Rodriguez Hernandez has received the standard sanction for the presence of a specific substance such as clomiphene, which carries a two-year suspension.

In a post on Instagram, Rodriguez Hernandez He said he accepted the suspension but did not agree with the doping accusation. “I understand the complexity of the case and my own limitations. I have accepted the two-year ban to close this chapter of my life,” he wrote.
