Torremolinos welcomes more than 5.500 athletes in the WTC Grand Final
The city of Torremolinos becomes the epicenter of world triathlon with the celebration of 2024 Triathlon World Championships which will take place this weekend.
More than 5.500 athletes from 79 countries will participate in this elite event, offering an unprecedented sporting spectacle.
A global event with a Spanish flavour
El 2024 Triathlon World Championships will be attended by more than 4.000 age group triathletes who will compete for the coveted medals.
Added to this figure are the athletes in the categories Elite, Sub-23, Junior y For Triathlon, making this championship a meeting point for elite athletes from around the world.
The president of World triathlon, Marisol Married, and a member of International Olympic Committee (IOC), has underlined the importance of this event for global triathlon:
"CWhen we grant the 2024 Triathlon World Championships to Torremolinos, we were confident that it would be an exceptional place for our athletes and fans.
We are excited to see Spain once again demonstrating its ability to host world-class triathlon events.”.
Competition calendar: five days of action
The competition will start on Wednesday October 16, with the traditional Parade of Nations at 18:15, a symbolic act that seeks to highlight the brotherhood and diversity of the participating countries.
Various competitions covering the different categories will take place over the following days:

- 09: 00 pm: Women's Under-23 Triathlon World Championship Finals
- 12: 00 pm: Finals of the Under-23 Triathlon World Championship (Men)
- 14: 30 pm: World Age Group Sprint Triathlon Championships
- Friday October 18:
- 10: 00 pm: World Para Triathlon Championships
- 15: 15 pm: Junior Triathlon World Championship (Women and Men)
- Saturday October 19:
- 09: 00 pm: Standard Distance Age Group Triathlon World Championships
- 11: 00 pm: Standard Distance Aquabike World Championships (Age Groups)
- 15: 15 pm: 2024 Triathlon World Championship Finals (Elite Women)
- Sunday October 20:
- 09: 00 pm: Junior/U23 World Mixed Relay Championships
- 11: 00 pm: World Para Triathlon Mixed Relay Championships
- 13: 00 pm: World Mixed Age Group Relay Championships
- 17: 00 pm: 2024 Triathlon World Championship Finals (Elite Men)
