Less than 20 days for the International Triathlon of Portocolom 2014

Everything is ready in Portocolom to host in less than 20 days the seventeenth edition of the prestigious International Triathlon of Portocolom, Mallorca, which will take place next 13 April 2014.

 

 

This triathlon will be played over two distances (55.5 kilometers as the 111), already has more than 500 registered and has been distinguished in 2013 as the best Triathlon of the Balearic Islands by local triathletes and the Balearic federation.

 

On the starting line they have already confirmed their presence top level athletes, with the outstanding participation in the female category of the German Diana Riesler (current long distance European champion) Susan Blatt (second in 2013 and winner of Challenge Almere), Eva Wutti (winner of Challenge Barcelona), Julia Gager (winner of the IM Arizona), the Irish Eimear Mullan (twice winner in Portocolom and winner of three Ironman 70.3) or Sandrine Ben, usual of the ITU tests.

 

In the male category the local Joan Nadal, Balearic long-distance champion will face the Belgian Timothy Van Houten or the Polish Adam Kacper, among other big names that will be announced in the coming days.

 

Again, the Portocolom International Triathlon 2014 will be one of the first triathlons of the season, the next 13 in April, after 17 editions and maintaining the attractive 55.5 and 111 formats (1 kilometer of swimming, 100 of cycling and 10 of foot race). There are still places available through the official website www.triathlonportocolom.com although there are already 500 registered to 20 days of the celebration of the appointment. In 2013, athletes from 16 different countries enjoyed the demanding double ascent to Sant Salvador by bike.

 

All the two tests on 111 and 55.5 km will take the triathletes the next 13 in April to the same routes as in 2013. Those registered to the 111 will have to give two laps to the cycling circuit while those of the 55.5 will only give one, climbing only once the 494 meters of Sant Salvador. Swimming will be in the crystal clear waters of Club Nautic de Portocolom, while the final walking race of 5 or 10 km will have the goal in the urban heart of this Mediterranean town.

 

At Lóleo Eventos, last edition, the former Mallorcan cyclist Toni Colom and the German Natascha Schmitt they achieved victory at the 111, and there were many familiar faces at the starting line, such as the former professional cyclist Marcel Wust and the former Formula 1 driver Alex Wurz.

 

In addition to the two events, in which you can also compete for relay teams, there will also be a duathlon for minors (TriKids) on Saturday 12 in April.
