The Triathlon Port of Seville returns with more strength than ever
After the break of last year, the Triathlon Port of Seville returns to the calendar, with more force even if it fits.
Now he does it with the impulse to be part of the ŠKODA Triathlon Series. It will be the seventh round of the season, after this circuit has gone through Madrid, Castellón, Barcelona, Andorra, Tarragona and Mallorca last weekend. There, the victories were shared by Miguel Ángel Fidalgo Roselló in the men's category and Kristina Wiegand in the women's category. After the Seville test, the circuit will travel next week to Getxo, then Gavá to finally finish in Malaga the October 4.
The one from the Port of Seville will be a quite numerous triathlon, since the figure of 1000 participants has been grazed; but above all very iconic, by going through some of the most emblematic places in the city, such as the Torre del Oro or the Guadalquivir. That will give greater prominence, both for the participants and for the hundreds of fans that are expected to be animating on the banks of the river.
The Puerto de Sevilla Triathlon will start at 10:25 a.m. from the Muelle de las Delicias, when the participants in the Olympic event will jump into the water (1500 meters swimming, 40 in bike and 10 running). Then the sprint (750, 22 and 5) and super sprint (350, 14 and 2,5) will take place. The swimming section will be in the Guadalquivir River, between the Puentes de las Delicias and de los Remedios. The bicycle section will take place in the Avenida de la Raza area. Finally, the running section will be along the Paseo de las Delicias.
In the first edition of the Triathlon Port of Seville, in 2012, it was possible to live a good temperature morning, which allowed the participants to make good marks. This is the case of the winner of the only edition so far disputed, Pedro Lumbreras from Seville, who crossed the line ahead of Josemi Pérez, Olympic at the London Games a couple of months before. Now, Lumbreras enters the list of favorites, although he has had a difficult summer due to the injuries: "I do not arrive at my best, but I come to give everything and to contest the test, as I did a couple of years ago". In the female category, the triumph in 2012 was won by Rocío Espadas.
With proposals for all types of triathletes, the test can be played at the following distances:
- Supersprint and Triathlon of Equality (350 m / 14 km / 2,5 km).
- Sprint (750 m / 28 km / 5 km). Individual and by relays.
- Olympic (1.500 m / 42 km / 10 km). Individual and by relays.
In addition, beyond the classic distances, the triathlon of equality will be played which, in supersprint distance, is played in mixed pairs.
