The triathlon returns with force in Cambrils

After 15 months, the population of Cambrils has relived the excitement of sports events, and has done so twice with atriathlon on Saturday 19 and a running test on Sunday June 20.

A weekend of pure sports, where the more than 2.000 families Coming from different parts of Spain have not only enjoyed the sporting events, but also the tourism and gastronomy of the population.

For this occasion, the two tests, which had a new circuit, have shared the same location in front of Platja del Regueral, on Avinguda Diputació de Cambrils, one of the most emblematic and touristic places in the town.

One more edition, the two sporting events have been in charge of the Regidoria d'Esports de l'Ajuntament de Cambrils and have had the technical direction of Sport No Limit.

Cambrils Triathlon

On Saturday, June 19 at 16:00 p.m., the Triathlon of Cambrils 2021 was kicked off, one of the tests of the popular sailfish Just Tri Series triathlon circuit.

Around 600 triathletes have completed their respective modalities: Sprint (0,75 km of swimming, 20 km of cycling and 5 km of running on foot) and Olympic (1,5 km of swimming, 40 km of cycling and 10 km of running walking).

The winners in Sprint mode have been Blanca Sanroma from the GasXSatanas club with a time of 01:10:06 and Raul Lorenzo with a mark of 00:59:23.

In the Olympic modality, the first to cross the finish line were Mélodie Riotteau from the Salou Triatló Costa Daurada with a time of 02:04:56 and Andrés Puértolas from the Sport & Fun club with a time of 01:57:55.

Half Marathon of Cambrils

On the other hand, on Sunday June 20 at 9:30 it was the turn of the Peugeot Joaquin Oliva Mitja Marató de Cambrils. A foot race that this year, for safety reasons, has only had the 10-kilometer modality and places have been limited to 1.000 people.

The winners of this edition have been Ana Martínez with a time of 00:38:59 and the Spanish Half Marathon Champion Jaume Leiva with a mark of 00:30:13.

The weather: the "negative" note

The rain has been present all weekend in Cambrils. During Saturday's triathlon, the sky was cloudy, but there was almost no precipitation.

On the other hand, the rain in the early hours of Sunday has caused many puddles of water to form throughout the entire route.

Although it has not been a sunny weekend, which is normal in the area at this time, the athletes were grateful that there was not much sun and the temperatures were mild.

Security measures

The Triatló and the Mitja de Cambrils have had demanding security measures as a result of the Covid-19. In the collection of numbers, the participants had to clean their hands with hydroalcoholic gel and a temperature measurement was taken.

In addition, they have had to wear the mask at all times and have only been able to remove it when the events have started.
