TRITON Portimão 2023, a unique competition in the Algarve

The next stop on the circuit TRITON in Portugal will TRITON Portimao 2023, a three-day triathlon event that will take place in the Algarve of 28 to October 30.

This one-of-a-kind competition focuses on all three segments of the triathlon, with each competition day dedicated one of them: swimming, Cycling y career.

El Algarve portuguese is a coastal region in the south of Portugal, known for its dream beaches, picturesque fishing villages and a pleasant climate throughout the year.

This tourist area noted for its rich history which combines Moorish, Roman and Christian influences, which is reflected in its architecture and cultural heritage.

Distances

TRITON Portimão 2023 will offer three distances to choose, giving the opportunity to participate to athletes of all levels. The winner of the competition will be determined by adding the times of each segment.

The competition format will be as follows:

• October 27: Swimming – 1,2 km, 2,4 km or 3,6 km
• October 28: Cycling – 30 km, 60 km or 90 km
• October 29: Race – 7,5 km, 15 km or 22,5 km

Unite sport and tourism

In addition to the sports competition, participants and spectators will be able to enjoy the natural beauty and historical heritage of the Portimão region and its surroundings.

Among the attractions are the Alvor estuary, the cultivated fields and the hills covered with pine trees and wild flowers in the Sierra del Algarve.

The picturesque town of Alvor, near Portimão, retains much of its Moorish historical heritage due to the long occupation of the region.

Alvor was conquered by the Portuguese in 1189, when the troops of King D. Sancho I managed to take the castle of the city. He castle and medieval churches are still preserved today.

The TRITON Portimão 2023 is a different way to end the season, since you will be able to combine the distances and compete on different days in a trialton weekend.
