Vanhoenacker, Kessler Wins New Zealand Ironman who was finally an 70.3

Although the New Zealand Ironman organization had to change the distance to 70.3 due to weather warnings, athletes were encouraged to participate in these adverse conditions.

In the men's category the Belgian Marino Vanhoenacker won and in the female category the American Meredith Kessler.

Vanhoenacker invested a total of 3:55:03 thanks in large part to his great time in the 1:12:41 half marathon. The finish was exciting, with Tim Reed from Australia finishing second, finishing just 48 seconds behind Vanhoenacker. Third place was for him ten times winner of the New Zealand Ironman Cameron Brown who finished with a time of 3:56:38
