Vicente Hernández, bronze at Mooloolaba

Vicente Hernández makes a great comeback to get the third place final while Jesus Gomar gets a magnificent fifth place.

 

 

Great comeback of Vicente Hernández to win the bronze medal in the ITU Triathlon World Cup held on Saturday 14 March in the coastal city of Moololaba (Australia). Together with him, Jesús Gomar also shone in this first meeting of the circuit, advancing to fifth place in the final classification.

Contested in sprint distance, the thirteenth edition of this iconic event on the international calendar began with a 750m swim. At his term, Australian Peter Kerr led about 10 triathletes on his way to the first transition. This group would lead the initial bars of the technical cycling segment. Behind, a large persecuting group in which the Spaniards Vicente Hernández, Jesús Gomar and Pablo Dapena. While the fourth Spanish in contention, Uxio Abuin circulated further behind.

Mid 20 km of the sector, managed to reach the front block to merge into a large platoon of unso 50 triathletes. Soon, the British Thomas Bishop and the Argentine Luciano Taccone got rid of the rest and reaped a rent of 20 seconds at the entrance to the T2.

Finally the French David Hauss beat the Australian sprint Jacob Birtwhistle followed by 7 seconds for Spanish Vicente Hernández.

Pablo Dapena I finish the test in position 32 and Uxio Abuin in the 55ª final place.
