Vincent Luis dares to take on the long distance in Challenge Roth 2025

International triathlon is about to experience a historic moment: Vincent Luis, two-time world champion and Olympic athlete, has confirmed that he will make his long-distance debut on July 6, 2025 in DATEV Challenge Roth.
It will be the first time that the Frenchman has tackled the 3,8 km swim, 180 km bike ride and 42,2 km run in a single event.
Luis, you already said last year that I would leave the short distance to focus on medium and long distance from now on.
The family connection that drives Vincent Luis
Two decades ago, the father of Vincent Luis embarked on the Roth adventure for the first time.
Now, history is repeating itself with the son following in those same footsteps. That family trip by car, full of excitement and nerves, marked a before and after in his home.
Today, that circle is coming full circle: the French athlete excitedly comments on how, in a few months, his parents will be making the same journey again to see him take on his own long-distance challenge.

Expectations for his debut
The triathlon world has its eyes on Roth. It's not just that Vincent Luis arrive with a list of titles in short and middle distance, but will also compete against the best long-distance specialists on an international scale.
The Frenchman joins the list of athletes who shone in 2024 and 2025 events, such as Henri Schoeman y Aaron Royle, both Olympians at Rio 2016. How will this trio fare in what is completely new territory for some of them?
There is no doubt that the speed base that short distance triathletes have acquired could have a big impact on Roth, a mythical race of the calendar.
The question is: will it be enough to win such a demanding test, where endurance and strategy are everything?
Roth, the scene of great legends
For years, Challenge Roth has become a world reference in long-distance events.
This event, which brings together elite triathletes and thousands of enthusiasts, promises an unrivalled atmosphere with the famous Solar Hill packed with spectators cheering on each participant. In 2025, with the presence of a double world champion like Vincent Luis, the excitement is more than guaranteed.
The unknowns about his adaptation, performance and strategy are fuelling excitement ahead of the big day.
